iM3 42-12 Ultrasonic Scaler
Unlike other ultrasonic tooth scalers that use a "jack hammer" approach to tooth scaling, the iM3 42-12 adopts a more gentle technique with its revolutionary rotational tip movement and ultrasonic removal of the plaque and calculus. The 42-12 rapidly removes calculus deposits from all tooth surfaces and is safe to use in periodontal pockets up to 13 mm deep.
The 42-12 achieves a highly polished finish on the tooth with less enamel damage by using an exceptionally high ultrasonic frequency of 42,000Hz, coupled with extremely low amplitude of the titanium scaler tip's circular movement of 0.02 mm.
Lightweight handpiece with finger on/off control right where you need it, eliminating the need for a foot control. The rotational tip movement and high ultrasonic frequency create a fine coolant mist which is adjustable.
Universal and Perio titanium (not stainless steel) scaling tips and spare ferrite rod supplied with the 42-12 scaler. Autoclavable handpiece and tips.
iM3 is the ONLY company using the 42-12 “Ferrite Rod” – Magnetostrictive technology.
Not to be confused with “Metal Stack” Magnetostrictive (Cavitron) technology. The 42-12 is sometimes mistaken for a 'Metal Stack' Magnetostrictive (Cavitron), but it actually uses a completely different technology: 'Ferrite Rod' – Magnetostrictive.
These are two totally different techniques.
- The metal stack produces a lot of heat compared to a ferrite rod.
- Some may think Cavitron tips are the same as the 42-12 tips. To the untrained eye the metal stack can look similar to the ferrite rod.
- 42-12 tips are more expensive, but the titanium lasts longer than the stainless steel tips found on Piezo & Cavitron.
- 42-12 tips are smooth & less aggressive on enamel compared to Piezo & Cavitron tips that use a sharp edge to scrape when cleaning.
- 42-12 tips are more efficient as the entire smooth 360° surface of the tip is active.
- Piezo & Cavitron tips are only active on two sharp edges (one on either side).
- The 42-12 has NO foot pedal = less foot clutter on the floor.
Only iM3-approved tips may be used with iM3 scalers. Use of other tips will void the warranty.
